At Deployable Energy, our technology is only part of the story. What truly drives our progress is the people behind it—engineers, operators, and leaders who chose to join this company because they believe in what we’re building and why it matters.
Each member of our leadership team came to Deployable Energy from a different path: national labs, industry, academia, startups, and field operations. What they share is a conviction that energy should be reliable, practical, and deployable where it’s needed most—and that nuclear technology, done right, can play a transformative role in meeting that challenge.
We asked each member of our leadership team a simple question: Why did you join Deployable Energy? Their answers reflect the mission, the urgency, and the opportunity that brought us together—and the values that guide how we work every day.
Bobby Gallagher, Chief Executive Officer
I am driven by the moment when a paradigm shifts — when a skeptic becomes a believer, when complexity becomes clarity, and when someone sees not just how something works, but why it truly matters.
I thrive on building teams and partnerships that take on problems that are hard, consequential, and worth solving.
My career has been a privilege. I began by serving my country as a commissioned military officer, continuing a four-generation tradition of service. I then worked across global shipyards in East Asia, the Baltic, and the Gulf of America, solving complex supply chain and project execution challenges in high-pressure industrial environments. Later, through venture-backed entrepreneurship, I lead and build a successful deep tech startup that made offshore oil and gas operations safer and more productive — addressing the systemic risks that disasters like Deepwater Horizon exposed.
Across those experiences, I learned what it truly takes to succeed in deep technology: first-principles thinking, disciplined execution, regulatory fluency, and alignment of stakeholders toward a shared mission.
I co-founded Deployable Energy to apply that mindset to one of the most important challenges of our time. Nuclear energy promised abundance and resilience.
At Deployable Energy, we are going back to first principles — challenging enrichment constraints, manufacturing complexity, and deployment paradigms — to unlock scalable, factory-built nuclear power through the Unity Nuclear Battery.
This isn’t just about building a reactor. It’s about changing what people believe is possible.
Lance Maul, Chief Operations Officer
I fell in love with reactors, but found the nuclear industry moved too slowly. I fell in love with start-ups for their speed of execution and the leverage they provide to turn ideas into reality. Deployable Energy is the marriage of these two worlds.
Energy is the foundation of prosperity, from basic quality of life to advanced industrial capability and capacity. Reliable, affordable power is what enables everything else to scale. Deployable Energy exists to make nuclear technology deliver on what it has always promised: clean, dispatchable, and truly scalable energy. I co-founded Deployable Energy to take direct responsibility for building something that matters and to ensure nuclear energy actually reaches the world it is meant to serve.
Sanjay Mukhi, Chief Commercialization Officer
For more than 20 years, I have worked across the U.S. government to advance nuclear energy deployment. At the Department of State, I pushed forward global nuclear energy competitiveness, and at Idaho National Laboratory, I served on the leadership team at the National Reactor Innovation Center, where I worked directly with every reactor developer in the U.S. nuclear landscape to move innovation toward deployment. I partnered just as closely with energy-intensive industrial end users, which sharpened my understanding of what truly scales and delivers value today. After seeing firsthand the full spectrum of advancements across the industry, I chose Deployable Energy because I believe the Unity Nuclear Battery offers the clearest path to commercialization, and because this team combines deep technical rigor with a collaborative, easy-to-work-with approach that turns innovation into real, scalable execution.
Richard Gaut, Chief Financial Officer
I spent the first 15 years of my career investing in exceptional entrepreneurs bringing transformational oilfield technologies to market. It is my pleasure to be building a company with Bobby for a second time. In our first partnership, Bobby and his team solved the most pressing challenge in offshore oil and gas: making drilling safer and more efficient. Today, the Deployable Energy team is solving the most important problem in global energy: safe and affordable access to power.
Robbie Mardus-Hall, Head of Modeling
I started in nuclear by studying paper reactors that never made it off the page and later supporting the operation of a world-class research reactor. Unfortunately, for a long time it has felt like progress in nuclear power has stagnated. The recent shift in support, especially around the enabling of micro-reactors, is a genuine inflection point, and I’m here to be part of the team that makes abundant, reliable energy deployment the new normal.
Phillip Moor, Head of Engineering
My career in nuclear power spans the full lifecycle of nuclear plants—from construction and operation to modification and decommissioning. I’ve served as an expert witness in disputes involving failed nuclear projects and, over the past two decades, have advised and studied multiple advanced reactor programs. As a licensed Professional Engineer, my greatest satisfaction comes from building practical, tangible solutions. I believe that safe energy must also be affordable, as markets ultimately judge value by cost, not complexity. I joined Deployable Energy to help build low-cost, scalable power using fuels and materials that are readily available at industrial prices—a straightforward formula that aligns technical capability with market demand.
